$2 Million Aston Martin Car Sells Out

bda17_astonmartin1013_cs_20081013194104 $2 Million Aston Martin Car Sells OutCrisis, schmisis. When super wealthy car freaks want something, money is no object.

According to press reports in London, Aston Martin already has buyers lined up for its entire production of the One-77, a 200-mph car that is expected to be launched next fall. Sticker price: $2.04 million. That blows past the Bugatti Veyron’s once-shocking price tag of $1.2 million.

Only 77 of the One-77s will be made. The company says it already has 100 applications for purchase, meaning that at least 23 rich guys will have minitantrums at some point in the next year when they get rejected. The buyers have to pay a $340,000 deposit.

Not much is known about the car, aside from the fact that it will have a 7.0-liter, 700-plus horsepower, V12 engine, carbon fiber chassis, and aluminum body. The meager pictures we have so far suggest the one-77 will look a bit like a pumped up DB9.

Maybe it is worth it. But for the same amount of money you could buy the following fleet of 2008 supercars:

1 Ferrari F430 (2008)–$217,000

1 Maybach 62 (2008)–$385,000

1 Maserati Gran Turismo–$200,000

1 Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren–$457,000

1 Porsche Carrera GT–$440,000

1 Lamborghini Murcielago–$365,000

Or, for the more environmentally minded, you could just buy about 90 Toyota Priuses–and still have money left over for gas.
